Pretty Little Things: Create. Ture

Los Angeles-based artist Michelle Robinson is likely the dopest artist you’ll ever meet. Upon first glance, you’re immediately seduced by her appreciation for the female form. Infused with geometric angles and patterns, the artist combines fashion and femininity with detail and precision that makes you stop, stare and drool.

“I’m combining two very strong forms of expression – art and fashion – to create one of the truest forms of self identity,” explains Michelle on her website.

She’s self-taught, which is even more impressive.  Shoes, accessories and clothing? She’s got ‘em all. Indulge.

The Look: Time For Your Big Chop?

The Big Chop is a big decision, but it can be one of the most liberating choices you’ll ever make. For any one of you chicas that appear to be lost, ‘The Big Chop’ is when you either shave off all of your hair, or cut your hair down to your tiny, natural tendrils sans the ‘white crack.’ Check out our steps to making a fabulous transition to au naturel.

(1) FIGURE OUT IF ‘THE BIG CHOP’ IS RIGHT FOR YOU. If you’re doing it for the purposes of going completely natural, then cut away. The cut will only be temporary and your hair will most likely grow at a nice, steady pace. If you’re trying to be the next Amber Rose, make sure that you’re comfortable with putting your face on full display. A bald head will accentuate your facial features – all of them. Also, does the shape of your head accommodate your fly girl aspirations? Read More…

Beyond the Box: House of Cheatham

We hooked up with Dwan White, Director of Global Marketing & Product Development for House of Cheatham, to discuss brand aesthetics, ever-changing hair and mainstream competition. You probably know the beauty house from their Africa’s Best and Aunt Jackie’s lines. Publicists, innovators, beauty gurus and stylists, take notes.

How has the curly hair industry surprised you?

Dwan: What caught many in this industry off guard was that the curly/natural trend, which usually cycles in and out every decade, quickly morphed from trend to movement.  Within a couple of years, women of every ethnicity joined the “texture” conversation. That conversation led to a texture movement that has changed how we approach product development.

What thoughts go into the creation of your brand’s aesthetics? Aunt Jackie’s has a nostalgic look and many of your models are chocolate-toned and gorgeous. Is this on purpose?  Read More…

Makeup: Summer Smoke

Be a summer sex pot. Smoky looks give those dainty pastels a swift kick this season. The key to keeping the look somewhat ethereal is to focus on highlighting your cheeks and using minimal, if any, blush. Opt for shimmer, as opposed to fall’s matte favorites. Lips should be lavished with a nude gloss in a slightly flushed hue. Check out our product favs and more looks we love. Read More…

The Kinky Chronicles: Orgasms For Great Skin

Laga Gaga claims that flawless skin is the result of two things – spinach and plenty of orgasms. Sounds about right. A powerful orgasm helps you emit pheromones, which make you more attractive, along with estrogen, which makes your hair shiny and your skin nice and smooth. Good sex also gets your blood moving which may help to accelerate healing or certain skin eruptions. The big O gives your immune system a boost, which helps to even your skin tone and give a more refreshed appearance.

The amazing experience quiets the mind and the stresses of the body, often helping to purge toxins through sweat. Lastly, it heightens your natural collagen production, warding off more and more wrinkles with each romp.

Have orgasms helped your skin?
